A relaxed NYC engagement session

I met Marian and Luke at Washington Square Park during what must have been the first truly beautiful day in New York. The sun made the mist coming off the fountain glow, and the sheer number of people in the park was almost overwhelming. But when you're as comfortable with each other as these two are, it doesn't matter how many people surround you--that intimacy is what I loved about this afternoon.

I shot the session on medium format, 35mm, and digital. The film images have such a soft, unpolished quality to them that I am obsessed with, and every time I look at them, I'm taken back to that Spring evening in the city.

the clean lines of the Washington Square Arch make me so happy. I love how romantic it is.

Both of Marian's dresses are from Rent the Runway! She has impeccable style on her own + she let me work with her to pick these looks in the weeks leading up to the session. I have a special place in my heart for people who are eager to work together on styling :)

Marian and Luke walked me through Greenwich Village to one of their favorite bars. (With an outfit change along the way of course.)

we ended the night at The spaniard in the west village for drinks, where I said goodbye to this amazing couple and left them to enjoy a date night.

the holga toy camera is one of my favorite tools, especially at the end of the night when harsh flash creates the best vibe.

I had the best time exploring this corner of NYC with these two. Luckily, I'll get to see Marian again in the fall, since she's the wedding planner for another couple I'm working with. Check out her services if you need an awesome planner!
